   • Thank you. This introduction and its following sonnet are new in the “Etudes” sequence. I hope you enjoy them both.

     This introduction is rather a refection of the sonnet itself, as the sonnet in question is primarily a study in sound form and balance to which subject matter was secondary. Still, this is one of the few introductions with which I spent a bit more time. Most often they are quickly written. This is one over which I pondered.

     In this way of writing wherein function, so to speak, follows form, one never knows what will be the final result. Of course, when written in this manner, such things tend to acquire a life of their own and sometimes write themselves, as it were.
