Sonnet V: All About Me

Again, doth stir in pretty slumber so,
But slight, her waking; dreameth then of he
Whose bearing and whose presence seemed unique.
And he, of small advantage, seemed as wise;

Yet hardly did aware, he seem, nor know;
Was more, that either view, than blind decree.
About him still, so more than just mystique;
Yet not conceit, as others she’d surmise.

And of his expertise, might nothing show;
Unless such confidence she chanced to see.
And might she little know of such technique,
Unless through conversation might surprise.

Though not precisely modest, I’d agree,
My love wouldst speak my greatness (most unwise!)

  1. It’s true! I knew you were something special when we were still quite small and I’ve been trying to convince you of it ever since. Sometimes you are forced by outside accolades over one project or another to admit to my wise assessments; but, thank goodness, you retain your charming freshness and belief that you are very ordinary.
    That said,
    As Han Solo said, “Don’t get cocky, kid” (heh)

    • I have long been considering a volume of sonnets, perhaps on Amazon in ebook/print-on-demand format. Misha Burnett has opened my eyes to the possibilities of this. When I first started this blog, I had no notion that anyone other than my sweet wife would be reading it.

    • I think your work can go beyond a simple E-book…I would check out Amazon’s createspace I used them for my paperbacks. And I must say, I’m quite happy. Download a blank template, copy and paste your sonnets. Then sort out your sections etc. and upload to Createspace…I have no doubt that you will be able to sus it out…if you do become stuck on some technicality drop me a line, I’ll be happy to help. ;)
