Magnificent, the world in which my life
Resplendent lives–the place I yet reside–
I have no thoughts of leaving. Thus I hide,
Perfection so deceiving; and the strife
I see is that which I desire; so rife
With excellence, as may inspire and guide,
As flowers of evil, peacefully subside;
Maleficence benevolently siphoned
Out, bequeathing uncorrupted beauty.
Stout perfection cracks and shatters when
I travel not abroad, as is my duty
To this perfect place, and stills my pen.
Lest, wretched with sublime I must conflate,
How stale then, the world I must create.
ahhh….

I recently read a blog entry which posited “you live, or you write.” Although I understand what the young man meant by this, I think still that this was a false construct of sorts. Beyond the obvious–that one must be alive to write–one must truly live life in order to write about it.
One needn’t fly between stars to write of space travel, for example, but one must interact with the world to write of those who might.
Things we do not like may inspire us more that things we do. It’s all out there : )

Now that sounds like a sonnet waiting to be written!

This is more or less the subject of the above. Still, point taken. I have been thinking that I should address this more.

Sounds like a plan. You do a sonnet, I’ll do a haiku. I think I wrote the best haiku of my life last week. I am pleased for the first time in a long time with something I have written.

I hope I did this right, it looks dreadfully long:

It worked fine. There are also short links built into wp.com Sometimes I use those. More often I use unique tags. (because wp permalinks are not actually very ‘perma’ If you move a post to another day, for example the ‘perma’ link will change whereas a tag link will not. I do wish one could modify the method of perma linking. If I were self-hosted, for example, I could specify permalinks using post IDs which would not change if and when I move things about.)

It is always most gratifying when my entries are enjoyed. It does not generate many insults though : )
